Fast Talkers

Fast talkers hunker
Around fire barrels fueled
By 40's and snow

Haiku - Life in 17 Syllables

I need a place to keep these little poems.  There may be a million of them, I have to start gathering.  I just ran across this stub of paper, so here are the first three .  I think they each one bring a picture to my mind.  These are unrelated and seem squished to put together.  Maybe this won't work.  Maybe each Haiku should have it's own post.

Thanksgiving 2011

Mary stands –
Aware she is part of all things –
Deep-rooted in familiar waters that rise
Just above her knees –
Up and
Over her boot tops –
While trees and other green and living things
Strike her mid-thigh –
Mountains craft a black plum skirt around her waist –
As a scarlet flash
Illuminates her Continental Divide –
Her arms –
Stretch past pale cerulean sky –
Into indigo night–
Breaching the gap between atmosphere and cosmos –
Her breast encircled in clouds –
Her eyes reflect the colors of the universe –
Her heart is full and her mind is clear
Mary stands –
Feeling gratitude for the cycle of life –
As tiny fishes of the deep
Live the moment

Gratitude

I am grateful for the blessings bestowed on my life. I am provided more than I could ever have imagined. I am surrounded with people who always look out for me. I have family and friends who bless me every day with kind words and actions. They lift me up in ways that keep my eyes focused on the important things in life and make my spirit soar.
I am grateful for being kept safe. I am protected from those things that seem to haunt others. I am just as grateful for the safety net around those I love.
For 2011:  I hope that I am provided with the ability and sense to show my friends and family every day how much they matter. I hope to give to them the same kindness they have provided to me.   I promise to live in each moment and stay reminded of just how lucky I am.  I will never allow myself to forget to show my gratitude.
